What Are You Wearing: Serena Van Der Woodsen

Greetings Upper East Side and the rest of the world, welcome to the first ‘Show Sunday’ post.

I have to say, there are many shows that show fashion at its finest but no one does it better than Queen B and Golden Girl S in Gossip Girl. Here’s a little history on the show: There are teenagers living on the Upper East Side of New York and they get into lots of drama while dressing dangerously amazing. The main characters include Daniel Humphrey, Nate Archibald, Chuck Bass, Blair Waldorf, and the one and only Serena Van Der Woodsen. So I thought, let’s get their look because who doesn’t want to look like New York City royalty?

I racked the internet searching for Gossip Girl looks for less and here is what I found.

Starting out with Cosmopolitan, I found a Serena Van Der Woodsen look for less.

Here is the look that Cosmopolitan was trying to create. And I have to say they did a wonderful job.

Now you may be thinking, that was a rather short article. The White Tee usually has more to say, and right you are because this post is not done yet.

I still have to talk about my favorite and least favorite outfits of Serena, I have to mention my tops for her make-up and hair as well as the bottoms, so buckle your seat-belts, it’s going to be a long runway ride.

Let’s start out with a confession. I have always been a bigger fan of Blair Waldorf’s outfits more than Serena’s but of course Serena has had her fair share of beautiful clothing so let’s begin.

Favorite Looks from Serena Van Der Woodsen:

Ah the white party. This look was one of my absolute favorites. Of course, I am a little bias because it is white, and I myself am a white tee shirt so for all I know this could be one of my long lost cousins. This dress was fitted beautifully to actress Blake Lively and really fit the character’s personality. I love the length and the details in the draping of the garment. This hands down is a win from me.

This was another look that made me want to be her. The ‘preppyness’ (I am aware that’s not a word) in this outfit is what makes it to die for. The jacket, ugh the jacket. Please let me wear that once in my life. I think the whole ensemble, including the amazing shoes, let this be one of my two spots for best dressed Serena.

Worst Looks:

Okay.. now onto worst outfits worn by Serena Van Der Woodsen. Again, this is simply my opinion, many people may disagree but for me these two were the worst she has ever worn.

Alright I’m just going to say it. Scottish plaid, Red (what looks like) leather, and zebra print? What were you thinking? The colors do not go together at all and it really does not encase the fashion forward girl Serena Van Der Woodsen is in the show.

Okay here is my problem with this look. I like the necklace and the bag, they’re nice. It’s the dress that makes me want to cry. It looks like a dress that was made for Cinderella, and then it got torn apart by step sisters and somewhere in there the stepsisters chewed up purple wrapping paper and stuck it onto the cut up dress. I was not impressed with this look, at all.

Okay now onto hair and makeup.

Oh and the White Party is back. This hair was the hair of a goddess. It was perfection.

Worst Hair Award:

Need I say more?

Best Make-Up Award:

This beautiful classic look is elegant and classic. The wing on the eyeliner is basically my owner Arya’s dream.

Worst Make-Up Award:

Honestly I don’t have one. Her makeup is always amazing, so bravo to her makeup artists.
